Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Aims At Throwing 6000 Yards This Season
Lamar Jackson’s objective, offense, and contract have all changed. The Ravens and Jackson, who didn’t have an agent and represented himself, concluded the difficult discussions after 27 months and signed a $260 million contract. Jackson declined to comment on the trade request he made to Baltimore in early March, saying he wanted to concentrate on keeping his draft-day commitment to bring the Ravens a championship.
“I didn’t really care for other teams, I wanted to be here. I desire to become a raven.
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Aims At Throwing 6000 Yards
In a single season, he aims to throw for more yards than any quarterback in history, he claimed during the news conference on Thursday.
Peyton Manning established the record for the most yards in a single season in 2013 with 5,477.
Jackson indicated that in this redesigned Ravens offense, he has a more ambitious figure in mind.

“I want to throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have,” Jackson said with a laugh. “I’m not an individual award-type guy or a stat watcher. I just want to do that because no one has ever done it and I feel like we have the weapons to do it.”
Todd Monken, the offensive coordinator, has joined the Ravens. Receiver Zay Flowers and receiver Odell Beckham Jr. have been acquired. Additionally, they have a talented group of running backs, tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, and former first-round receiver Rashod Bateman. Although Jackson has never thrown for more than 3,200 yards in a season, he is obviously enthused about Baltimore creating the best wide receiver corps of his career.

In Jackson’s defense, two of the top four best passing yardage seasons—Patrick Mahomes’ 5,250 yards in 2017 and Tom Brady’s 5,316 yards in 2021—came in the last two seasons since a 17th game was introduced to the regular season.

Jackson has a lot of reasons to believe that in 2023 he will have one of the best passing seasons in NFL history thanks to a new offensive coordinator, an enhanced core of playmakers, more throwing attempts, and a laser-like focus on his performance.
