After Being Bailed Out By Former NFL Player Ryan Grant, Nelson Pizarro Is Now Working

According to the story, Ryan Grant was one of those who contributed money to Nelson Pizarro’s release after he was accused of shooting an NYPD investigator during a narcotics search on Staten Island. According to reports, Grant contributed $500,000 in cash to have Pizarro released on a $5 million bail.

Nelson Pizarro Shot A NYPD Officer

Libretti is a 10-year veteran of the NYPD. When Libretti was shot, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig suggested it may have “career-ending” consequences.

According to officials, Pizarro has seven prior convictions in New York, including for reckless endangerment, illegal possession of a narcotic drug, and aggravated license.

He attracted criticism after the New York Post revealed he paid the bail for a guy accused of shooting an NYPD officer.

Pizarro was accused of shooting NYPD Detective Dominick Libretti in the leg during a raid in the Staten Island community of New Springville in January. Pizarro was reportedly firing at cops from the home’s bedroom even though he was not the objective of the operation.

Prior to leaving the NFL following the 2012 season, Ryan Grant, a great running back at Notre Dame, started for the Green Bay Packers. Grant, 40, is a Suffern, New York, native. Before enrolling at Notre Dame, he played high school football for Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, logging 2,220 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. He was a member of the Packers from 2007 to 2012, and in 2010, the club won a Super Bowl. Before leaving the NFL, he played Washington’s last game of the 2012 campaign.

It was unknown how he and Pizarro related.

After being released from custody to await trial, Pizarro was placed under home arrest, although he has since been permitted to drive a livery, according to the sources.

“He’s just got free rein of all the boroughs,” one law enforcement source said. “So there’s pretty much no repercussions for shooting a cop.”

The 10-year veteran Libretti, who has been working again since August, mentioned to a buddy that he learned about Pizarro’s position and that it “blows his mind.”

Pizarro was reportedly spotted driving within a few blocks from Libretti’s house, according to the police sources, adding insult to injury.

Although it was unclear what business Pizarro was driving for, the NYPD has reportedly been attempting to obtain a copy of his logs to ensure he is not disobeying the conditions of his parole, which include an 8 p.m. curfew.
