Two months after being found guilty on many counts in connection with the murder of 84-year-old Afaf Anis Assad, Williams, 39, and her companion Candace Townsell, 42, were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday. After a month-long trial in Riverside County Superior Court, the two women one of which was Leonard’s sister were convicted guilty of first-degree murder, robbery, and elder abuse in February.
It was said that Assad entered a washroom carrying a pocketbook containing $1,000. Kimesha Williams, the sister of Kawhi Leonard, followed her into the restroom while Townsell kept watch outside. Prior to Williams and Townsell leaving, a lady who was in a different restroom stall testified that she heard a thump.

“I am so sorry for your loss,” the statement began, per The Press-Enterprise. “I have been praying for you and your family every day. I am not responsible for the death of Mrs. Assad. Although the courts have found me guilty of the charges, we all know the truth, and that there is one judge, and that is God, and that He knows the truth.”
