He stands by what he said. Alek Manoah of the Blue Jays is reiterating his claim that Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is baseball’s top cheater. Manoah noted Cole’s overuse of sticky substances throughout the summer.

When the Yankees were playing the Blue Jays in August of last year, Manoah hit star Aaron Judge with a pitch to start the fight. Cole was outraged at this.

Alex seemed to challenge Cole after the game. “I think if Gerrit wants to do something, he can walk past the Audi sign next time,” Manoah said.

Manoah’s statements were attempted to be minimized by Blue Jays manager John Schneider by blaming his fiery temperament.

“Some of the things that Alek has said – between the Audi sign and other things – it’s Alek being him,” Schneider said Friday.

On August 21, Manoah struck Aaron Judge with an up-and-in, 91 mph sinker, which caused Judge to go a few steps toward the mound and exchange words with Manoah. This was the beginning of the drama between the two.

Alek Manoah of the Blue Jays refers to Gerrit Cole as the worst cheater in MLB history.
Manoah informed Judge that he did not intentionally hit him, and other Yankees fans, including a yelling Cole (who was not pitching that day), walked out onto the field to defend their star batter.

“I don’t think there were really any fireworks between me and [Judge],” said Alex , a 2022 All-Star who is off to a poor start this season (6.98 ERA). “My job is to go out there and try to get him out, and that’s what I’m going to try to do [Saturday].”

Manoah challenged Cole to get closer through the media after hearing Cole shout at him from dirty territory.

Cole has had five starts this season and has a 0.86 ERA and 0.77 WHIP, which is fantastic.
