Bizarre: Mets Broadcasting Team Had To Move Because The Possum Poop Made It Impossible To Breathe

Despite their complaints, New York Mets supporters cannot claim to have ever witnessed a possum escape from Citi Field. On the other side, the Oakland Athletics have a major possum problem.

Bizarre: Mets Broadcasting Team Had To Move Because The Possum Poop Made It Impossible To Breathe

One possum apparently felt it would be a good idea to create a cosy nest in the other team’s announcer booth after learning that the A’s were performing exceptionally poorly this season.

The aforementioned possum alarmed the New York broadcast crew on Friday before the A’s game versus the Mets, forcing them to move their camp.

Gary Cohen, who calls games for SNY, described the terrifying episode that terrified the Mets broadcasters. Cohen and the rest of the team entered their visitors’ booth, where “they were immediately met by the stench of the possum having done his business in the booth.”

The team then packed everything and moved to a booth with a blocked-off view caused by a pole.

But as colour analyst Ron Darling noted, he preferred “pole” to “possum.” as would most individuals.

We’re not the first to mention it, but possum poop all over a broadcast booth is nasty. Quite an accurate portrayal of the Athletics’ season thus far, no?

The A’s lost to the Mets 17-6 that evening, and they don’t seem to have any influence on the possum that is thought to reside in the other team’s television booth.

The unnamed possum initially emerged at the Oakland Coliseum in the spring of 2022, and it appears that a year later, he or she has quietly settled down in a cute, dusty nook of the building.
