The senior centerfielder for the Greg Lovelady team and the Knights will juggle the UCF football spring game and a home baseball game against Memphis on Friday.

UCF’s John Rhys Plumlee Set To Play Football & Baseball The Same Day: Talent At Its Best!

Senior Plumlee competes for Central Florida in baseball and football. He is the starting quarterback for head football coach Guz Malzahn and the starting right fielder for head baseball coach Greg Lovelady.

The Mississippi native, 22, also sings, dance and plays the piano.

“We’re planning on John Rhys helping our baseball team to victory,” Malzahn said. “When he gets done, he’ll come over and finish this thing out. That will be a really unique deal for our fans.

Hopefully, after the baseball game, those fans will come over and be a part of our spring game.”

In essence, Plumlee is capable of anything, but that is unimportant at this moment.

During Plumlee’s unusual route to Orlando, she spent three years at Ole Miss. The native of Hattiesburg made the decision to remain at home and represent the Rebels; as a freshman, he replaced Matt Corral as the starting quarterback due to an injury.

Among the top rushing efforts in college football history was his 212 yard effort versus LSU. Plumlee has a SCOOT.

Even though Corral eventually took Plumlee’s job at quarterback, the two briefly shared the position before the former spent a year playing the slot receiver. Whatever role he played for Matt Luke and Lane Kiffin, Plumlee was simultaneously working two jobs at the same time with Mike Bianco’s baseball team.

He would occasionally make the starting lineup, but not frequently. He complemented the normal baseball season with spring football practise, so his springs were very active.

After three years at Oxford, Plumlee eventually reached the transfer barrier in both sports and moved to Florida’s east coast. Now that he is in his second season with the Knights, Friday night will be wild.

At 5 o’clock, UCF baseball welcomes Memphis to John Euliano Park. At the adjacent FBC Mortgage Stadium, the spring football game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

It’s gonna be super challenging yet super fun to watch Plumlee do his best. His dedication and good work are the attention of catching many eyes. This is going to turn in a way that’s going to be beneficial for his professional career after college.
