Reports: Jets Not Ready To Pay Packers The Desired Price For Aaron Rodgers’ Trade

Although a trade deal for four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not yet been agreed upon by the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets, a recent report outlines what the Packers want.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Packers are allegedly seeking a 2023 second-round selection and a 2024 first-round choice that is guaranteed from the Jets in exchange for Rodgers.

If Rodgers decides to retire after the 2023 season, the Packers are prepared to give New York extra compensation, according to Robinson, who revealed the trade package on the “Wilde and Tausch” show on ESPN Milwaukee.

“Green Bay is stuck in its asking price of a two this year, a straight shot one next year. So, no graduation schedule attached to it and they would be willing to do the 2025 some sort of a draft asset giveback if for some reason Aaron Rodgers doesn’t play in 2024. And, the Jets and Woody Johnson, specifically, they’re just not going to do it. That’s why this is sitting where it is,” Robinson reported during a Wednesday appearance on “Wilde & Tausch” on ESPN Milwaukee.

In a March interview with Pat McAfee, Rodgers made it obvious that the Jets are where he wants to finish his NFL career.

The announcement shocked the NFL community, but there hasn’t been much public action since then. In actuality, there hasn’t been much. The public has seen little nothing to imply a deal is close to finalising, save than Jets GM Joe Douglas’ assurance that Rodgers will join the organisation.

In that breakdown, the due date is April 28. Round two officially starts on that day. It appears that everyone should have circled that day at this point.

All of this, however, is meaningless if the remaining compensation cannot be agreed upon, which is beginning to seem like that could be the case.

How will this all turn out if the Packers are adamant about maintaining their position as the franchise and the Jets are unwilling to budge? It would seem that something would have to occur in order to end the stalemate.

Even though there is still plenty of time before training camp begins, the Jets would prefer for Rodgers to arrive as soon as possible so he can become acquainted with his new teammates and coaches. He does, however, have experience with Hackett’s offence because they were coworkers in Green Bay.
