How To Watch Yankees Play On Opening Day 2023: Channel, Streaming Links, Roster & Schedule
The New York Yankees commence their 2023 MLB against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday (Mar. 30). The game will begin at 1:05 pm (ET) in the Bronx in New York. Here’s everything you need to know about the opening day fixtures.
How to watch Yankee games without cable
There are several streaming choices available for fans without cable to watch Yankee games during the 2023 MLB season:
YES and all of the networks that carry nationally televised events, including Fox, ESPN, MLB Network, FS1, and MLB Network, are available on DirecTV Stream in-market. The service’s Select plan costs $99.99 per month and includes all of these.

— MLB.tv allows fans who reside outside the Yankees’ TV area to view events. You can watch each and every game for every squad for $129.99 for the entire season or $24.99 per month. For $109.99 a year, you can also select the single-team alternative. Once more, this only applies if you don’t watch Yankees TV: The Yankees’ home market will have blackouts during games. Games will also be blacked out if you live outside the Yankees’ market, but in the market of teams the Bombers are visiting.
Yankees Opening Day Roster
Inking outfielder/first baseman Franchy Cordero to a split contract that will pay him $1 million in the major leagues, the Yankees threw a last-minute curveball as they finalised their 26-man Opening Day roster, choosing to carry 14 position players and 12 pitchers for Thursday’s game against the Giants at Yankee Stadium.
The Bombers intend to exchange a position player for a pitcher on Friday’s off-day, according to manager Aaron Boone, who also hinted that there may be additional changes in the works.

“We have a potential deal going that’ll probably change that moving forward in the next day or two where a pitcher could be in play for us,” Boone said.
Catcher (2): Jose Trevino, Kyle Higashioka – Despite having a right wrist sprain during training, Trevino was able to restart playing on March 21 and is now prepared for the start of the season. Last season, Trevino, an American League All-Star and Gold Glove Award recipient, set career highs in games played (115), runs scored (39), hits (83), home runs (11) and RBIs (43).
First baseman (1): Anthony Rizzo- Following a season in which he batted.224/.338/.480 and matched his career best with 32 home runs, which tied for the seventh-most in the AL, Rizzo re-signed with the Yankees this past November. The 33-year-old is the only athlete to have at least nine seasons with 20 or more home runs since 2013.

Second basemen (2): Gleyber Torres, DJ LeMahieu- While Torres is Boone’s starting second baseman, LeMahieu is expected to start at first base, second base, and third base in order to maintain his bat in the field, despite the fact that LeMahieu received the starting call at second base on Opening Day. After a right foot injury limited LeMahieu’s performance in the second half, he has been fine this spring, according to Boone, who added that there have been “zero problems” for months.
Shortstop (1): Anthony Volpe- Since Derek Jeter in 1996, Volpe is the youngest player to start for the Yankees on Opening Day, and he enters the Majors with sky-high hopes. The New Jersey native, however, appears prepared to live up to them after an outstanding spring in which he hit.309 (17-for-55) with six doubles, a triple, three home runs, and five RBIs in 19 practise games.

Third baseman (1): Josh Donaldson- Boone recently claimed that Donaldson is “not far away from 2021, when he was still a wrecking ball,” adding that the veteran had a good winter. Despite Donaldson hitting just.222 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs in 132 games last season, Boone said that he is “not far removed from that.” “I think you’re crazy to think that a bounce-back is not in there, offensively,” Boone said. “This guy still has bat speed and is super talented. Physically, at this point, he’s in a much better place than he was a year ago.”
Outfielders (4): Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge, Estevan Florial, Giancarlo Stanton- The Yankees started Stanton in right field instead of Judge in centre field for the first game of the season because Harrison Bader was out with an abdominal injury. The team thinks that having Stanton play defence on a semi-regular basis will improve his all-around performance; Boone’s strategy is to introduce Stanton in the centre two or three times per week.

Infield/outfield (3): Oswaldo Cabrera, Franchy Cordero, Isiah Kiner-Falefa- Cabrera started in left field on Opening Day after following up a buzzworthy 2022 debut with a strong spring. Cordero, who spent Spring Training with the Orioles before being granted his release from the club on Monday, slashed .219/.300/.397 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs in 84 games with the Red Sox last season.
Starting pitchers (5): Gerrit Cole, Domingo Germán, Jhony Brito, Clarke Schmidt, Nestor Cortes- The anticipated fifth-starter competition between Germán and Schmidt changed into a preseason practise for the regular season because Carlos Rodón was expected to open the season on the injury list. Cole received his fourth straight Opening Day start, and Brito replaces Luis Severino, who began the season on the injured list. Cortes’ right hamstring injury from February caused him to drop towards the rear of the lineup.

Relief pitchers (7): Albert Abreu, Jimmy Cordero, Clay Holmes, Michael King, Jonathan Loáisiga, Ron Marinaccio, Wandy Peralta- Tommy Kahnle and Lou Trivino started the season on the disabled list, which changed the dynamics of this situation. King, Loisiga, Marinaccio, and Peralta will come in behind Holmes as the closer. In the spring, Cordero showed off his nasty stuff, earning a place after recording a 3.72 ERA in 9 2/3 innings while striking out 10 hitters to just one walk.
Despite being one of the strongest teams on paper, the Bombers’ manager Anthony Boone knows that the team still has a lot to do if they want to challenge for the World Series.
He still has several big calls to make, which may go on to affect their season in a major way.
Aaron Judge on Anthony Volpe:
“My thing has always been, if you’re the best player, it shouldn’t matter your age. You should be up helping the New York Yankees."
