QB Lamar Jackson: Upon Not Meeting Contract Demand Requests For A Trade From Ravens

In breaking news, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has announced he requested a trade from the team at the beginning of the month, posting a letter to his fans on social media.

This was prior to March 7, when the Ravens applied the non-exclusive franchise tag on him.

Given that he and the Ravens were unable to come to terms on a long-term extension, his shocking announcement might indicate that his time in Baltimore is about to come to an end. Jackson has not yet accepted the non-exclusive proposal from the team.

“As of March 2nd,” Jackson said in a Twitter thread. “I requested a trade from the Ravens organization for which the Ravens has not been interested in meeting my value, any and everyone that’s has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team win the super bowl,” he continued. “You all are great but I had to make a business decision that was best for my family and I. No matter how far I go or where my career takes me, I’ll continue to be close to my fans of Baltimore Flock nation and the entire State of Maryland. You’ll See me again.”

“A letter to my Fans,” Jackson wrote on Twitter. “I want to first thank you all for all of the love and support you consistently show towards me. All of you are amazing and I appreciate y’all so much. I want you all to know not to believe everything you read about me. Let me personally answer your questions in regards to my future.”

Jackson sat out the last month of the 2022–23 campaign as the Ravens were defeated by Cincinnati in the Wild Card Round.

Since Jackson has the franchise tag and is currently a free agent, he is allowed to speak with other teams. If one of those teams signs him to an offer sheet and the Ravens decline the offer, the other team will send the Ravens its next two first-round draught picks, and Jackson will join the other team.

Sadly for Jackson, it appears that no other teams are prepared to pay what he believes he is worth either. Finding a club that will pay Jackson what he feels he is worth while also negotiating a deal between that team and the Ravens might prove to be a challenging situation for Jackson.
