After being promoted to the majors, Cabrera has made an impression with his glove. He will be a crucial component for manager Aaron Boone with the start of the season just a few weeks away. The coaching staff has been impressed by his development and flexibility on the pitch.

Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza was the latest to praise the young Venezuelan:

“He’s got really good instincts that sometimes he makes it look really, really easy. But it’s not as easy as he makes it look.”

Mendoza complimented Cabrera’s work ethic, knowledge of the game, and optimistic outlook for his progress in a recent article in the New York Post.

In August, Cabrera made his Major League Baseball debut at third base against the Tampa Bay Rays. In 2022, he has also played outfield, shortstop, and second base.

Cabrera has played third base, right field, and left field since spring training got underway. Recently, Aaron Boone said he intended to give him a go in centre field as well.

Currently, Cabrera has a lot going for him. He is an above-average hitter, he is versatile defensively, and most importantly, he has a positive attitude. The Yankees will likely use him in several different positions in 2023.
