After the Chiefs celebrated their victory following a controversial holding penalty on Eagles cornerback James Bradberry that led to Kansas City’s game-winning field goal kick, Leah Covey, the wife of Eagles receiver Britain Covey, stated she was “embarrassed for the Chiefs.”

“Honestly embarrassed for the Chiefs rn??” Leah wrote over an Instagram Story post after the game, which included a photo of her making a thumbs-down while the Chiefs celebrated on the field at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

“That was embarrassing,” Leah mouthed in a TikTok video while using a voiceover filter. “I really hope you’re embarrassed.”

Leah, who will give birth to a child in March with Covey, described the cause of her second-hand shame in the same piece.

“Watching the Chiefs celebrate their win on the field after the weakest holding call and running the game clock for the last 5 minutes,” Leah wrote over the video, which showed her wearing her husband’s No. 18 Eagles jersey.

After Philadelphia defeated the 49ers 31-7 in the NFC Championship, Covey and his wife recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary.

LeBron James and other sportsmen, including Philadelphia supporters who were outraged by the contentious holding call in the fourth quarter, criticised the Super Bowl 2023 officials.

With 1:54 left in the game with the score knotted 35-35, the Chiefs faced a third-and-8 situation from the Philly 15-yard line. When wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster did not receive a pass from Patrick Mahomes, officials raised a flag and called Bradberry for holding. The Chiefs received an automatic first down as a result, which allowed them to elapse time before trying the go-ahead field goal.

Bradberry acknowledged holding Smith-shirt Schuster’s on the play after the game.

“It was a holding,” Bradberry told reporters in the locker room. I pulled on his jersey. I was hoping they would let it slide.”

After the heartbreaking defeat, Leah expressed the same displeasure as Eagles supporters. Eagles supporters continued to throng the streets of Philadelphia to cheer for their team.

On Sunday night, Eagles supporters took over Broad Street, with some of them banging drums and scaling lamp posts.

Before their match against the Sixers on Monday, the Houston Rockets are staying in Center City Philadelphia, and youngster Jabari Smith Jr. caught the brawl outside his hotel window.
