Christian McCaffrey Making Up Excuses For The Loss Against Eagles
Although the Philadelphia Eagles soundly trounced Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, it’s impossible to predict what may have happened if Brock Purdy hadn’t had an injury.
Jimmy Garoppolo also experienced it after suffering an injury during the regular season. Trey Lance’s season was over in the second game, thus the same could be said of him.
The fourth-string backup quarterback Josh Johnson sustained a concussion, leaving the 49ers with no quarterbacks remaining, forcing them to use injured Purdy. McCaffrey discussed this unpleasant encounter with Kay Adams.

Christian McCaffrey Making Up Excuses For The Loss Against Eagles
He said:
“It’s tough… you don’t want to make excuses obviously, but it just sucks because we wish we had a healthy quarterback for a full game and just see how the game would’ve panned out. It’s a really good team that we played but it’s just it feels like something got stolen from you.”
“Just wish it would have played out differently, wish we could’ve ran that one back. Hopefully, they change that rule where you can carry a third quarterback. Definitely still tough.”
“F*** your fantasy team, man 🤣”

Due to an injury that will now require surgery, Purdy was compelled to return to the game. It would have been a different situation if they had a healthy quarterback or if Purdy, who stunned everyone with how brilliantly he played all season, hadn’t been injured.
The venerable I don’t want to make an excuse, but the lack of a QB line is why we lost. Always effective!
McCaffrey is correct, you see. Probably in some manner, the 49ers were denied a real opportunity to win that game. Roger Goodell is likely already looking at how to amend the NFL’s absurd third quarterback rule.

Naturally, if he first ceases virtue-signalling for 30 seconds.
Anyway, I simply wanted to say When the 49ers were already down to their third-string quarterback in the first place, perhaps they ought to have had a better backup quarterback in their back pocket. It’s only a thought, I don’t know.
Every NFL club was permitted to carry a third quarterback in case of emergency from 1991 to 2011, and this player’s presence did not count towards the team’s 45-man active roster limit. The emergency QB rule was dropped by the NFL in 2011, although the league simultaneously increased the game-day roster size to 46 men, giving each club an additional space to deal with.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the NFL decided to review the emergency QB rule in light of the 49ers’ recent problems. In addition to McCaffrey, Kyle Shanahan, the coach of the 49ers, and John Lynch, the general manager, have both stated that they support putting the rule back.
