Nick Kyrgios Exits Australian Open. His Girlfriend Costeen Hatzi is ‘DEVASTATED’
The news of the Australian’s surprising withdrawal from the 2023 Australian Open left Nick Kyrgios’ fiancée, Costeen Hatzi, feeling “devastated,” but she insisted that it was wise to take care of his body. Hatzi, who has been linked to the Australian tennis player since 2021, wrote on her Instagram Story that while “devastated,” Kyrgios “has to do what is good for his body.”
One day before his scheduled match against Roman Safiullin of Russia, Kyrgios, who had just reached the Wimbledon final and the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open, provided more details on his decision to withdraw from the competition.

He then continued,
“Honestly, I’m just exhausted from everything, and obviously pretty brutal. One of the most important tournaments of my career. It hasn’t been easy at all.”

Kyrgios announced his withdrawal from the competition and gave an emotional press conference on Monday.
“I’m devastated, obviously. It’s like my home tournament. I’ve had some great memories here. Obviously last year, winning the title in doubles and playing the best tennis of my life probably, then going into this event as one of the favourites, it’s brutal,” the 27-year-old conveyed.

He accepts that such accidents are common in sports and says that in order to overcome the setback, he will “draw inspiration” from his countryman and doubles partner Thanasi Kokkinakis.
“This coming around is just bad timing. But that’s life. Injury is a part of the sport. I guess I can draw some inspiration from someone like Thanasi [Kokkinakis] who has had a bunch of injuries and has bounced back,” he continued.
