Head Coach Provides an All Important Update on Jalen Hurts and His Availability for Playoff Games

After eighteen weeks of jam-packed action, the NFL has finally reached the business end of the 2022 season. This coming weekend, 12 teams will participate in wild card rounds to take on the top seeds in their respective conferences in the divisional rounds. Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles secured the top spot and an additional week of rest thanks to an unprecedented season.

Going into the season, not many expected Hurts and his team to do as well as they did. The Eagles went on a stunning eight-game win streak that broke franchise records. However, in game week 16 and 17 of the season, the Eagles suffered back-to-back losses against the Saints and the Cowboys. The common factor in both these losses was the absence of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was nursing an injury at the time. Now more than ever, the Eagles will need Hurts to step up and deliver as they aim to win their first Super Bowl since 2017.

A huge update on Jalen Hurts

In a recent press conference, Nick Sirianni of the Eagles shared an update on Jalen Hurts when asked if he will be fit to play in the divisional rounds. He said, “I’m not sure I can answer that question. We are fortunate that we have two weeks until the next time we play. So, we’re fortunate there. He’s going to be a little bit more healthy than when he was obviously the other day.”

He continued, “He came out sore as expected. He came out of that game sore, because it’s still healing. We didn’t feel like we’re putting him at any more risk of getting more injured, but we knew it was going to hurt him like hell, and he knew it was going to hurt him like hell. But that’s kind of player he is; that’s the kind of teammate he is.”

Jalen Hurts will have to be fit for the Eagles to have any sort of chance of making it deep into the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles nurse Hurts back to full fitness.
