$50 Million Worth Carlos Correa Signs a Massive $200 Million Deal With Minnesota Twins After Dunking on the Mets
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Minnesota Twins’ agreement to a contract with Carlos Correa marks the end of the protracted Carlos Correa issue. It appears that the New York Mets made the decision to sever all contact with the famous free agent. The San Francisco Giants first agreed to terms with Carlos Correa, but then pulled out due to worries over Correa’s long-term health, allegedly because of a leg injury Correa sustained in the minor leagues in 2014.
In September, Correa revealed that the surgery he underwent to treat a fractured fibula left him with a metal plate in his leg. After Christmas, while owner Steve Cohen was on vacation in Hawaii, Carlos Correa, and agent Scott Boras immediately shifted their attention to the New York Mets.

Carlos Correa signs with Twins
The Twins are once again in the running to sign the 28-year-old, according to the most recent information on the Correa contract situation. The Mets presented Correa with a fully guaranteed six-year, $157.5 million contract, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

The shortstop would have received $210 million over eight years and $315 million over a twelve-year period from them (non-guaranteed). The Mets were prepared to completely guarantee six years at $157.5 million, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, but the remaining six years of the agreement would have only been conditionally guaranteed.

Correa made the decision to go back to the Twins as a consequence, where he would earn $42.5 million more over the course of the first six years of his contract with Minnesota.

The disappointing several weeks for everyone associated with the Mets come to an end with today’s announcement. The process began on December 21 when the Mets pounced after the Giants’ 13-year, $350 million offer to Carlos Correa was rejected due to a problem with the player’s medical history.
