NFL Faces a Major Setback for the Playoff Game Between Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs

We’re at the business end of the 2022 NFL season, after 17 weeks of jam-packed action it all comes down to the final matches this weekend. While a lot of teams have already secured their matchups for the post-season, for a lot of teams, outcomes in the final week of this season will decide their matchups for the post-season.

Earlier this week, the Buffalo Bills took on the Cincinnati Bengals in what was supposed to be the decider for the top spot in the AFC between the Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. In the game between the Bills and Bengals, a life-threatening injury to Damar Hamlin caused the game to be paused.

Later, the NFL stated that the game would be canceled altogether. This makes things extremely interesting. Thursday’s announcement means that Cincinnati is officially the champion of the AFC North. It also means that there could be a tie atop the AFC between Kansas City and Buffalo.

Indianapolis says to no the NFL

If the Bills and the Chiefs end up tied at the top of the AFC tables, it would mean a neutral venue for their playoff game. The NFL has decided to get a head start on the same and approached the Indianapolis Colts to host the game between the Chiefs and the Bills at the Lucas Oil Stadium on either the 28th or 29th of January. However, the Colts have declined from hosting the game.

According to reports, Lucas Oil Stadium is already set to host the Central Zone Invitational. The volleyball tournament is expected to draw as many as 30,000 people downtown that weekend. Hotel occupancy is expected to exceed 7,000 rooms and will be at full capacity. Therefore, the Colts declined from hosting the game.

The NFL will now have to go back to the drawing board and finalize one of the other 29 stadiums to use for the game between the Bills and the Chiefs. The Bills take on the Patriots in game week 18 in a few hours, and the Chiefs, on the other hand, take on the Raiders in a few hours.
