Josh Allen and Sean McDermott Say They Feel Confident Playing This Weekend After Damar Hamlin Incident
In what will be one of the most defining moments of the 2022 NFL season, Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed to the ground during the Buffalo Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals after putting in a challenge. As soon as he hit the ground, the referees were quick to call in medical help. It was later revealed that Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital to receive further medical attention.

The game between the Bills and the Bengals was called off by the NFL, as both sets of players felt uneasy in taking to the field after what they had just witnessed. A few days on from the incident as Hamlin recovers both Josh Allen and head coach Sean McDermott have shared their feelings in taking to the field this week to take on the Patriots in what will be the final game of the regular season.
Josh Allen shares his thoughts after the Damar Hamlin incident
In a recent press conference prior to their penultimate game, Allen and McDermott were asked. If the Buffalo Bills felt comfortable in playing a game this weekend. Allen said, “I do.”. McDermott said, “I do as well.”
Do the Buffalo Bills feel ready to play a football game in 3 days?
Josh Allen: "I do."
Sean McDermott: "I do as well."
Both say Damar Hamlin's improvement and his father saying Damar would want them to get back to focusing on their goals have helped.

The pair went on to add that given Hamlin was recovering well and the fact that his father conveyed to them that if Hamlin was in his senses, he would have wanted them to continue playing made it easy for them to arrive at the decision to play this weekend.
Very classy move by Josh Allen, who made sure to say this before his press conference ended today: "People should not be attacking Tee Higgins whatsoever. Hopefully he found some relief today. I hope he doesn't hold that upon himself."

Josh Allen also took the time out to defend Tee Higgins in the press conference. He said, “I haven’t reached out to Tee, but I hope he got some relief today. I saw some stuff on Twitter, and people should not be attacking him whatsoever and I’m glad that Damar’s family came out and said that. That’s a football play, I hope that he doesn’t hold that upon himself because there’s nothing else that he could’ve done in that situation.”
Donations to Damar Hamlin’s Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive are now over $7.5 million, including the recent $19,203 donation from the @ChicagoBears — 1920 being the year the Bears were founded and No. 3 being Hamlin’s number.https://t.co/NDMtrF5sP4
