Are the Tennessee Titans out of the playoff races for the 2022-23 NFL season?
The Tennessee Titans suffered their ninth defeat of the season when they fell 27-13 to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 of the NFL season. Mike Vrabel’s side is still in second place in the AFC South but their chances of making it to the playoffs became a lot more complicated.
Their chances of making it to the postseason via a wild-card entry are now finished. However, they still have a guaranteed shot of making the playoffs depending on their Week 18 matchup. But they need to break their six-game losing streak in order to do that.
How can the Tennessee Titans qualify for the playoffs?

The Titans can book their place in the knockout stages of the league with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is simply because the Jaguars are currently 7-8 and leading the AFC South. Regardless of whether they win or lose in Week 17, they will go head-to-head with Tennessee for the divisional title in the final game of the regular season.

If the Titans win in Week 18, they will be level with the Jaguars if Jacksonville wins in Week 17. However, with a better head-to-head record, the Titans will make it to the next round as the divisional winners. If they lose in Week 18, the Titans are eliminated from playoff contention.

That being said, the Jaguars are one of the most in-form teams at the moment. Even if Trevor Lawrence and Co lose in Week 17, they will know that they have the firepower to overcome the Titans in Week 18. Tennessee has been struggling for the past few weeks and with changes in the faces of their quarterbacks over the last few games, things don’t look great for the Titans.
