“Can Barely Push Off My Foot…”: Tom Brady’s Teammate Leonard Fournette Reveals His Injury Status Slamming His Critics Only to Delete the Tweet Later
On Sunday, the Buccaneers narrowly defeated the Cardinals 19-16 despite Arizona using third-string quarterback Trace McSorley. At the conclusion of the contest, Leonard Fournette had gained 162 offensive yards. He made the decision to address his health situation and respond to people who had been critical of him after the performance. Less than 12 hours after turning in his most productive game of the year, Bucs tailback Leonard Fournette once more bowed his head in the direction of his detractors on Twitter.
Twenty carries for 72 yards were completed by Fournette, who also had nine catches for 90 yards. In the process, he disclosed that his 162-yard effort in Sunday night’s 19-16 overtime victory over the Cardinals was made possible by a Lisfranc injury, one of the most severe foot problems in his line of work.
Leonard Fournette deletes his original tweet
“I hate when people be on here just talking saying I’m out of shape etc do y’all understand I’m playing with a lisfranc in my foot every week can barley [sic] push off my foot but through the Grace of God I’m goin to keep proving y’all wrong,” Fournette tweeted Monday morning.
Tweet deleted now, but Leonard Fournette announced he has been playing through a Lisfranc injury.
Likely a sprain similar to Najee Harris earlier in the year. Curious if he’s had a plate in his cleat too.
Wish I could tell him No we don’t understand since it was never announced. pic.twitter.com/hDvp6WnsCf— Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT (@jmthrivept) December 26, 2022
The tweet was removed quickly. Why Leonard Fournette removed the tweet is unknown. Fournette addressed his detractors in a polite manner. He said nothing offensive or disrespectful. According to the website of the UT Southwestern Medical Center, Lisfranc injuries are typically brought on by a significant twisting of the foot that results in a fracture, dislocation, or ligament tension or rupture in the center of the foot.

Lavonte, a Bucs inside linebacker David returned for the playoffs after missing three games due to the injury in December but confessed he wasn’t yet fully recovered. Out of humiliation, Leonard Fourenette entered the camp, where he was ridiculed by many for his weight. He did make the commitment to be in condition for the season, but a sluggish start to the campaign drew additional flak.
