What Medical Issues Led To Carlos Correa Signing Contract With Mets?

A week after reports surfaced that the 28-year-old free agent and the San Francisco Giants had reached an enormous 13-year, $350 million contract, Carlos Correa has decided to sign with the New York Mets.

The puzzling switch was reported by baseball columnist for the New York Post, Jon Heyman early on Wednesday morning, the day after Correa’s test revealed a health problem.

“Breaking: The Mets and Carlos Correa have agreed to terms. 12 years, $315M “Heyman stated.

What Medical Issues Led To Carlos Correa Signing Contract With Mets?

Cohen went in to close the transaction he feared had slipped away from him after something came up on Correa’s Giants medical. The Mets will have a star-studded lineup with Correa at third base, setting a record salary for Cohen of more than $380 million.

Cohen said in a statement to The Post from Hawaii, “We needed one more thing, and this is it. “This was crucial… This elevates us above the rest. This crew is effective. I’m hoping for a good team!

Although it’s unclear exactly what caused the Giants doctors to raise concerns: According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the agreement fell through because of a “difference of opinion on the medical” between Carlos Correa’s agent and the Giants.

The Giants were worried about Correa’s back in the early phases of free agency, according to NBC Sports’ Alex Pavlovic, and those worries haven’t subsided recently. Correa has already been placed on the injured list due to back problems, so it would appear to fit.

However, Pavlovic later claimed that the Giants were genuinely scared off by an ankle injury Carlos Correa sustained in the minor levels in 2014. When Correa slid into third base, he hurt his ankle, which required surgery.

Carlos Correa’s Mets contract is contingent on a medical. The 13-year, $350M contract with the Giants collapsed because of an issue that surfaced during his medical with the team. Only that it wasn’t a back issue, which had surfaced earlier in Correa’s career but hasn’t sidelined him in any of the last three seasons.
