Salt Bae Broke The FIFA Rules By Touching The Trophy & People Are Not Pleased
At Lusail Stadium, Lionel Messi raised the World Cup trophy for the first time after Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties. Salt Bae had his hands on the trophy.
After posting a picture of the World Cup trophy after Argentina beat France on Sunday night, Salt Bae received criticism from followers on social media.
After the final whistle, the Turkish chef was permitted onto the field and looked to celebrate with the Argentina players as Lionel Messi won the World Cup for the first time in his professional career. La Albiceleste prevailed in a nail-biting match that ended 3-3 after extra time at the Lusail Stadium in a penalty shootout.

Salt Bae Broke The FIFA Rules By Touching The Trophy & People Are Not Pleased
After the championship celebrations, Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gokce, went onto the field with several of the Argentina players and held the World Cup. He even bit through a medal awarded to the winners. It is well known that only a small number of people are permitted to touch the trophy, and Salt Bae is obviously not one of them.
Messi told Salt Bae no twice while he's trying to hug his family, guy chased and grabbed him again. What a prick. Only time I saw Messi angry in the last hour. pic.twitter.com/6nBPifUtLz

The original FIFA World Cup Trophy, according to FIFA, “may only be touched and handled by a very select group of people, including former FIFA World Cup champions and heads of state.” Salt Bae held the trophy in his hands and posed for several pictures with it for the photographers while holding the award.

Social media users expressed their dismay at seeing Salt Bae holding the prize on the field. One user of Instagram said: “The Cup shouldn’t be touched. You are not a winner.”
Another questioned why the Turkish restauranteur was allowed to grasp the monumental accolade: “I thought only world champions could touch the Cup?”

A third claimed: “Why you are holding it and why are you are on the field? You don’t belong there. Players who have put in a lot of effort should take advantage of this time, not superstars who want to linger out and take photos for their own promotion.”
Hot take, but you shouldn’t be permitted to handle the trophy unless you’ve won it, one person remarked.
