On Sunday’s NFL pregame program on FOX, Rob Gronkowski made his first in-studio appearance of the year and immediately offered his opinion.
When the former tight end brought up the Dallas Cowboys during their discussion of the NFC playoff picture, Gronkowski and his teammates were listening. He criticized the Cowboys for being overhyped every year and claimed that the Minnesota Vikings are not given enough credit.

On Sunday’s Fox Sports pregame broadcast, the former Patriots great tight end provided his analysis on Dallas. The topic of discussion turned to the NFC’s competitiveness, which features powerhouse teams like the Eagles and Vikings.
Gronkowski asserts that the Cowboys are not on the same level as the Patriots, though. even if they have a four-game winning streak going right now.
“Are the Dallas Cowboys pretenders or contenders? And history states that they’re pretenders every season,” Gronkowski said to other analysts’ surprise.

Gronkowski is referencing the fact that Dallas hasn’t advanced to the NFC championship game since it last won the Super Bowl in 1995, making it more difficult to view them as a contender.
Gronkowski was stating the obvious, which will likely offend Cowboys fans. Dallas has only achieved four playoff victories since their previous Super Bowl victory in 1995. Even when it seems like they have one of the top teams in the NFC, they have consistently lost.
Appearing on FOX NFL Sunday, Rob Gronkowski declared that the #Cowboys might be "pretenders" this season and that the Minnesota #Vikings are a better team than they are. #Gronk

Given that he has a perfect 11-year career record versus the Cowboys with both the Patriots and the Buccaneers, Gronkowski may feel unimpressed by Dallas. However, the Cowboys have maintained their competitiveness in the NFC East this year with a 10-3 record, behind only Philadelphia by two games.
The Cowboys were 9-3 going into their matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday, but nothing they do during the regular season will matter unless they disprove critics like Rob Gronkowski.
