New Orleans Saints DE Cam Jordan fined $50,000 by NFL for ‘faking injury’ against Buccaneers

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan has been fined $50,000 by the NFL for faking an injury in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the NFL received a total of $550,000 in total from the incident that occurred during the Bucs-Saints matchup.

Along with Jordan’s $50K fine, his position coach, Ryan Nielsen, also was fined $50,000. Saints head coach Dennis Allen was fined $100,000 and the Saints themselves were fined $350,000. All in all, it was certainly costly for Jordan.

Cam Jordan injury led to Bucs falter?

Jordan’s injury took place after a third-and-17 play by the Buccaneers, midway through the fourth quarter. As Bucs QB Tom Brady lined up the offense for fourth and 10, Jordan looked to the sideline, took a knee, and pointed to his lower left leg which stopped play for a while. Camera angles also reportedly showed Jordan getting instructions from the sidelines to fall and halt play.

The incident was reportedly done by the Saints to make sure that the Buccaneers lose some of the momentum that they were gaining in the final quarter. However, Jordan took to Twitter on Friday to address the issue by the NFL.

Despite the incident that took place in the game, the Bucs came away with a win after Tom Brady rallied the team to victory. The Saints will now face Atlanta Falcons in Week 14 as they have a bye this weekend. They are currently at the bottom of the AFC North with just four wins and eight defeats this season. Even if they win their remaining games, they may not be able to reach the playoffs.
