After the season, he was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team and received an honorable mention for the conference.

He took part in the 2011 FIBA under-19 World Championship as a member of Team USA and was named a 2011 Collegeinsider.com Freshmen All-America pick. He was named to the 2011–12 All-Big Ten third team while playing for the squad as a sophomore. He was named All-Big Ten for the 2012–13 season.
