NBA legend Charles Barkley Details His Relationship with Michael Jordan Since His Unpleasant ‘Conversation’ 10 Years Ago

Since 2012, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley have ignored one another. In 2012, when Barkley was already a basketball pundit, Jordan’s ownership and leadership of the 7-59 Charlotte Bobcats were under fire. Taylor Rooks had a conversation with Charles Barkley about his strained friendship with Michael Jordan, the causes of their falling out, and what he would say to his ex-friend to patch fences.

Taylor Rooks talked with Charles Barkley about his strained friendship with Michael Jordan, the causes of their falling out, and what he would say to his ex-friend to patch fences. In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks, Barkley disclosed that he and Jordan had run into one other roughly five times in the years after their relationship ended, but they have never spoken words. Instead, they have always simply walked right by one another.

Charles Barkley lays bare the cold hard facts about his relationship with Michael Jordan

“I said I didn’t think Michael Jordan had enough support around him to be successful. I said it and I had no problem saying it because it was the truth. He took offense and called me out. It wasn’t a pleasant conversation, and we haven’t spoken since,” Barkley explained.

“It’s a really unfortunate situation for him and for me. But I first and foremost do my job. Because I can’t criticize other coaches and managers and turn a blind eye to Jordan because he’s my friend, I just can’t do that.”

Michael Jordan didn’t have to overthink what Barkley said about how he oversaw basketball operations for the Bobcats. “Chuck” just carried out his analyst duties, and he has never been one to temper his opinions or criticism when necessary. Although Barkley admitted he was aware, they would be silent for a long following Jordan’s call, he also noted that things could have turned out differently.
