FIFA requested that European nations refrain from donning the rainbow-themed armband in Qatar, where homosexuality is prohibited, prior to England’s opening match against Iran on Monday.
At the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Monday, England captain Harry Kane came up with a novel approach to express his strong support for the LGBTQ+ community. Prior to England’s victory over Iran, Mr Kane was spotted entering the stadium in Doha while sporting a rainbow-and-diamond Rolex watch that cost about $1 million.

Instagram account Insane Luxury Life shared a snap of Mr Kane in which he was seen wearing the timepiece. “The captain of England @harrykane wears a rare @rolex Daytona ‘Rainbow’ 116595RBOW in 18k rose gold, one of the most sought-after pieces on market,” the caption of the post read.
The Rainbow Rolex Daytona, which features the LGTBIQ+ flag’s 36 sapphires and 56 diamonds, is the timepiece that the England striker is currently donning.

Although it was on sale for 150,000 euros a few years ago, the item is now valued at 630,000 euros.
Although this new gesture has gained widespread attention, many are unsure whether FIFA will take any action against it.

As a show of support for the LGTBIQ+ community, several European teams wanted their captains to don a rainbow “One Love” armband. However, after FIFA announced that doing so would result in a yellow card and a fine, those plans were abandoned.
