Black Hebrew Israelites Demonstrate Support For Kyrie Irving Ahead Of His Return

In support of Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving, members of the Black Hebrew Israelite group demonstrated on Sunday night in front of the Barclays Center. Following an eight-game suspension for promoting an anti-Semitic film on social media and failing to vehemently denounce Jew hatred, the basketball player had just rejoined the squad.

Some demonstrators, according to local media, were seen sporting shirts bearing the slogan “Israel United in Christ,” while others demanded a boycott of Nike, which had cut ties with Kyrie  Irving in the wake of the issue.

After endorsing the movie “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America” and failing to denounce antisemitism, Kyrie Irving issued a “deep” apology on Saturday. I don’t dislike the Jewish people or anyone who self-identifies as Jewish, he declared.

“The challenging part is simply understanding everything, realising my voice’s strength and my significance. I am not anyone’s idol, he continued, “but I am a human being who wants to affect change.

The Black Hebrew Israelite movement, according to the Anti-Defamation League, “rejects generally accepted concepts of Judaism and contends that people of colour are the actual offspring of Israel.”

Before the game, a group known as the Black Hebrew Israelites—also known as the black Jews—decided to march in support of Kyrie Irving while wearing purple sweatshirts with gold accents.

The group, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated as a hate group, preaches that they are the real Israelites of the Bible and claims that the “so-called Jews” stole their identity and birthright.

In fact, Sopan Deb of the New York Times wrote more on the subject while directly quoting from one of their manifestos.

“The anti-Semitism reality. They claim that Hispanics and Blacks make up the “12 Tribes of Israel.” You are a direct descendant of slave traders. We are Semites, not anti-Semites, “Deb continued.

The group was formed in 1960 and has been allegedly laced with anti-Semitic, anti-LGBTQ+, xenophobic and misogynistic overtones.
