Banjo played football for the SMU Mustangs while he was a student at Southern Methodist University from 2008 to 2011.

On April 18, 2013, Banjo signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars after going undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was released by the Jaguars on July 25, 2013. The Green Bay Packers signed Banjo on July 29, 2013. The New Orleans Saints signed Banjo on November 15, 2016. Banjo was signed by the Arizona Cardinals on September 25, 2019.
