Former MLB All-Star Asdrubal Cabrera Smashes Opponent With Clothesline

Asdrubal Cabrera, who last played with the Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball in 2021, reacted to an opponent’s home run celebration by clotheslining him as he approached first base and inciting a fight.

Cabrera, who turned 37 last week, was manning the infield for the Caribes de Anzoategui when Carlos Castro of the Tiburones de La Guaira flipped his bat in awe of Cabrera’s home run and regarded the Caribes’ dugout.

Near the first base, Cabrera ran into Castro and punched him, knocking him to the ground.

Castro, a 28-year-old player for the Tiburones de La Guaira, made a patient approach to first base as he observed his home run off left-hander Jose Torres cross the fence. Castro then turned his bat around and looked into the Caribes’ dugout. Torres began yelling at Castro as he made his way to first because he was clearly annoyed by the antics, but things quickly became worse.

Cabrera made the conscious decision to intervene since he was obviously dissatisfied with the public festivities.

The former Texas Ranger delivered a vicious clothesline that mercilessly knocked Castro to the ground, taking a leaf from the WWE playbook of famed Texan wrestler JBL.

Although Cabrera was knocked over in the ensuing altercation, he quickly followed him to the ground since his body was limp as he touched the ground.

Castro may have rejoined the game, but regardless, his team emerged victorious, defeating Cabrera’s squad 6-4. This must have been yet another source of irritation for the visibly upset Venezuelan.

Cabrera was selected off waivers by the Reds from the Arizona Diamondbacks in Aug. 2021. He appeared in 20 games for Cincinnati and had two hits in 31 plate appearances.

Cabrera played for eight teams over 15 MLB seasons. He was an All-Star in 2011 and 2012 for Cleveland, and he won a World Series with the Washington Nationals in 2019.
