“We Won a Lot of Games Without a Wristband”- Russell Wilson Hits Back at Former Headcoach Over Recent Disrespectful Comments
For over a decade, Russell Wilson was the main man in Seattle. Wilson was the man around who the team was built and someone who delivered the biggest prize in football to the city of Seattle for the first time in its history. Therefore, a split was always going to be painful, and it seems as though head coach Pete Carroll has just not gotten over it.
In a recent interview, he threw shade at his former quarterback by saying, “If you notice, Geno’s going off the wristband, and that’s a big help,” he said. “It’s smoothed things out, sped things up, cleaned things up. And that’s part of it, too. We never did that before. There was resistance to that, so we didn’t do that before.”
Russell Wilson was asked about Pete Carroll's comments regarding the use of Geno Smith wearing a wristband this season:

Obviously, the constant digs are not something Russell Wilson is going to entertain and therefore he hit back at his former coach saying, “I don’t know exactly what he said, but we won a lot of games without one on the wrist. I didn’t know winning or losing matter whether you wore a wristband or not.
Russell Wilson won an NFL record 113 games in his first 10 seasons.
If only he had worn a wristband more often…

Wilson continued, “But I think, do whatever it takes to make sure that we’re rolling and moving and everything else. A few times I (have) definitely worn a wristband depending on the game plan and what we have called and all that stuff.”
A closer look at Russell Wilson and his 2022 season
When Wilson was traded to the Broncos, this season and the Seahawks were left with Geno Smith, no one would have expected that nine games into the season that it would be the Seahawks and Smith that have a record of six wins and three losses.

Most expected the Seahawks to have a miserable season, but they have done just fine. Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos, on the other hand, are the laughingstock of the league and arguably the worst team in the NFL right now. They’re 3-5 after eight games and face the Tennessee Titans up next.
