The Staggering Amount Daniel Snyder Is Aiming to Get for the Washington Commanders

It is not often that an NFL team goes up for sale and when that does happen, the competition to acquire the team becomes a race between some of the richest and most powerful men and women in America. This is on full display as the news of the Washington Commanders being on sale has piqued the interest of a number of billionaires as well as other celebrities.

In a recent interview, NBA star Kevin Durant shared his thoughts on potentially joining a consortium of investors to acquire the Washington Commanders. He said, “In a perfect world, I would be a part of it,” Durant said. “I would love to do it. I would love to give a little bit of my money to be a part of the Washington Commanders, but we’ll see. Hopefully, it’s somebody nice. I heard [Jeff] Bezos and Jay-Z, but you never know.”

Speaking on Snyder and his decision to part ways with the team Durant said, “I mean, how long has he had it now — 20-something years?. He’s probably the only owner I’ve known since I’ve been alive for the . . . Commanders. So it’s definitely shocking to see him put them up because it’s his baby.”

Durant continued, “NFL teams are precious, they’re important. But that’s going to be a team that everybody — everybody wants to be a part of the league. It’s one of the most lucrative teams in sports, so I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of bidders.”

Kevin Durant to join Jeff Bezos and Jay-Z to acquire the Washington Commanders?

Ever since the news broke out, Jeff Bezos has been a frontrunner to acquire the team. It is reported that Bezos is preparing bid that will include a consortium of investors, including Jay-z. It is reported that Daniel Snyder will not part with the team for anything less than $6 billion.

Earlier this year, the Broncos were acquired by the Walton-Penner-led consortium that included athletes like Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams. Therefore, it will be not a shock to see Durant join an ownership group if he found the right fit. In all likelihood, this saga will be wrapped up fast given the intense amount of interest that is already there for the team.
