Reggie Miller Calls Out NBA Players On Kyrie Irving Controversy: “Players Are Mum When It’s One Of Their Own”
Players were criticized by Reggie Miller for failing to react to Kyrie Irving’s anti-Semitic remarks on social media.
Irving appeared to be endorsing the antisemitism and misinformation of the movie “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake up Black America” last week when he tweeted a link to it.

During Tuesday night’s Chicago Bulls-Brooklyn Nets game on TNT, Miller, a former NBA player turned basketball broadcaster, Reggie Miller, voiced his opinions.
Holy crap – Reggie Miller is saying the quiet part out loud on TV…
“The players have dropped the ball here.” Saying that they should stand up and call for punishment for Kyrie Irving in the same manner they did for Sarver, et al.

“In years past, this league has been great because the players have led the way, and they have strong voices,” said Reggie Miller. “When (former Los Angeles Clippers owner) Donald Sterling stepped in it, when (Phoenix Suns owner) Robert Sarver just recently stepped in it, our voices in the basketball community and our players were vocally strong in some type of discipline being handed down – or be gone.

On Tuesday, the NBA Players Association did issue a statement, although Irving was not explicitly mentioned in the message.
“Anti-semitism has no place in our society,” the statement read. The NBPA is focused on creating an environment where everyone is accepted. We are committed to helping players fully understand that certain words can lead to hateful ideologies being spread. We will continue to work on identifying and combating all hate speech whenever it arises.”

During TNT’s broadcast, basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley expressed his dismay with Irving ahead of the game.
“I think he [Kyrie Irving] should have been suspended. I think Adam [Silver] should have suspended him,” Charles Barkley told the panel In the same TNT interview as Reggie Miller.
