Kevin Durant Gets Things His Way- Nets Fire Head Coach Steve Nash

As the club struggled on the court and came under fire for the off-court behaviour of the star guard Kyrie Irving, the Nets fired Coach Steve Nash on Tuesday.

Sean Marks, general manager of the Nets, said in a statement that “personally, this was an extraordinarily tough decision.” But after considerable thought and consideration of how the season has started, we decided that a change is required at this time.

Kevin Durant Gets Things His Way: Nets Fire Head Coach Steve Nash

There were rumours that Kevin Durant requested a trade in August if certain requirements weren’t met. In particular, he demanded that coach Steve Nash be removed from the team if they desired for him to remain with the Brooklyn Nets. Owner Joe Tsai first resisted complying with his requests, but eventually, he caved.

After his claimed ultimatum, Kevin Durant was frequently questioned about it, but he kept straying from the topic at hand. Steve Nash did make a suggestion that there might be a breach between him and KD, but he also said it was resolved. If he was fired as the Nets’ head coach, it was because of his own poor performance to begin the season.

Despite having all three of its greatest players, Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving, the Nets remain one of the poorest teams in the NBA with a 2-5 record.

After Nash led the team to a 2-5 start to the season, the decision was allegedly mutual between the Nets organization and Nash. Given Brooklyn’s lineup, which has superstars like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons, anticipations for the 2022–23 NBA season were high.

In a statement, Steve Nash said: “A very heartfelt thanks to Joe and Clara Tsai, along with Sean Marks, for giving me the opportunity to coach the Brooklyn Nets. It was an amazing experience with many challenges that I’m incredibly grateful for.”It was a pleasure to work with the players, performance team and front office every day. I’m especially grateful to my coaching staff and video room, who is a talented group with so much character and professionalism.”

Ultimately we see Kevin Durant got what he needed!

The Nets face the 3-4 Chicago Bulls in their next match on Tuesday night.
