Referee Jerome Boger Mistakenly Calls Penalty On The “Seattle Mariners” In The Seahawks’ Win Over The New York Giants
The Seattle Mariners are once again a known Seattle sports team, at least in the eyes of the general public, after ending the longest playoff drought in North American sports. But to forget the difference between MLB and NFL is something that only referee Jerome Boger can do.
Referee Jerome Boger Mistakenly Calls Penalty On The “Seattle Mariners” In The Seahawks’ Win Over The New York Giants
NFL referee Jerome Boger is one such guy who clearly recalls the Mariners and their brief but extraordinary postseason journey this year.
The NFL official, who otherwise had a fairly typical game, encountered one of those situations where talking is necessary, but the brain isn’t quite ready to speak, and this is what occurred:
The Seahawks Week 8 game against the Giants was being officiated by the seasoned NFL official at Lumen Field. After Seattle coach Pete Carroll collided with an official late in the fourth quarter, his staff discovered a violation on the sideline.
Didn't realize you were in the building, @Mariners. 😂 #EmbraceTheChaos pic.twitter.com/Oh9U6bYQh8

Boger made a questionable decision against the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff during the final seconds of the Seattle Seahawks 27-13 victory over the New York Football Giants. The crew was warned for a sideline infraction, but the referee named the Mariners rather than the Seattle Seahawks. The announcement made the pundits and viewers at a home chuckle.
Referee Jerome Boger just called a penalty on the "Seattle Mariners" coaching staff. He hasn't announced a single penalty correctly today.

Carroll was clearly annoyed by the flag, but he should be grateful that he wasn’t the target of it. Because when Boger called a foul, he did so “of the Seattle Mariners’ coaching staff,” a team that has recently experienced a baseball revival.
