Jaguars’ Marvin Jones Knew Right Away That Coach Urban Meyer Was A Mistake
Marvin Jones Jr., a seasoned wide receiver, played nine NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent in 2021.
About two months after the Jaguars hired former Florida and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer to lead the team for the first time in his coaching career, Jones, 32, signed the two-year contract.
Following their disheartening loss to the New York Giants in Week 7, the Jacksonville Jaguars are now 2-5. However, they differ from their 2021 equivalent in a number of respects. The prospective franchisee quarterback Trevor Lawrence has made significant progress in his development, and Urban Meyer, who ruined his rookie season, is no longer in charge of the team.

Jaguars’ Marvin Jones Knew Right Away That Coach Urban Meyer Was A Mistake
Marvin Jones was questioned on how long it took him to notice that a calamity was developing in Jacksonville on the “Open Mike” podcast with Mike Silver.
Around the second week of camp, according to Jones. “You know, the meetings and the atmosphere. You are aware that nothing you would say would be accurate. I said, “Look, the entire league has phones, so we can all fact-check.” Just be genuine. One of the most important things is having a trustworthy and sincere person who speaks the truth to us. Particularly in this day and age, when you can check everything to see if it is accurate or not.”

After numerous scandals and a 2-11 start to the year, Meyer, 58, was fired by the Jaguars before the end of his first season with them. Marvin Jones is too honourable to discredit anyone, not even a person as vile as Meyer. They actually had a dispute last year, though Jones played it down. He also doesn’t benefit much by revealing the dirty laundry of his past coaches.
With 73 receptions for 832 yards and four touchdowns in the 2021 season, Jones still managed to lead the Jaguars in receiving.
