Astros Beat Yankees In ALCS Game 3
The Astros had every right to enter the American League Championship Series (ALCS) full of confidence after defeating the Yankees in all three games of the regular season at Minute Maid Park, never trailing. The Astros are still not quite done, but they are making it clear that they are the greatest team in the AL, and they are now only one victory away from making it to their fourth World Series in the last six seasons.
The postseason is not the time to attempt to change who you are. Above all else, this is the reason why the Houston Astros’ 2-0 lead over the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series feels even more insurmountable, despite the fact that a club taking a 2-0 lead often wins the best-of-seven series.

Since July, the Astros have been the AL’s top club, stealing it away from the Yankees as they rolled to 106 victories while New York faltered and “only” managed 99. The Astros won both games in Houston by scores of 4-2 and 3-2, which partially belied Houston’s degree of control, putting on display the second halves of both teams’ fortunes.

What Did Astros Manager Say About the ALCS Game 3 Win
“It’s mostly who they are, but a lot of it has to do with sheer determination and enjoying competing,” Astros manager Dusty Baker said of his team’s contact skills before Game 2. “Our staff stresses to be a tough out and put the ball in play. If you put the ball in play, you got a chance. If you don’t put the ball in play, you have no chance.”

The Astros defeated the Yankees, 5-0, in Game 3 of the ALCS on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium thanks to another dominant outing from the unflappable Cristian Javier, a crowd-quieting home run by Chas McCormick in the second inning, and a crucial hit by veteran catcher Christian Vázquez in a three-run sixth inning.

“Well, I don’t know if dominant’s the word,” manager Dusty Baker said. “I mean, all of ’em are close, except tonight. So I don’t think about being dominant. I just think about just scoring one more run than they score and winning the ballgame. The Yankees are always dangerous, especially here in New York, so we got an opportunity to close it out and win tomorrow, so we’re going to take every opportunity to try to do that.”

Aaron judge On losing ALCS Game 3 To Astros
“We’ve had our backs against the wall all year, and even in this postseason, especially when we went down [two games to one] to Cleveland,” Aaron Judge said. “We can’t look too far ahead. We’ve got to focus on a big Game 4 coming up here tomorrow.”
“We’ve got a lot of talented individuals in this room,” Judge said. “We just haven’t been able to get everybody clicking on the same page this series, but we’ve still got a lot of ball left to play.”
Aaron Judge was just boo'd at Yankee Stadium after a strikeout in the 6th inning that dropped him to 1-for-11 in this ALCS.

Even more so against a Houston team that has limited them to four runs through the first 27 innings of this ALCS, a Yankees comeback would be historically significant. Houston has beaten the Yankees in eight out of ten games so far this season, including the postseason.
