Marquise Brown injury update: Is the Arizona Cardinals WR out for the rest of the season?

Arizona Cardinals star Marquise Brown, who had a foot injury on Sunday, may miss the rest of the season, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Following Sunday’s defeat to the Seahawks, Brown, 25, could be seen strolling in a boot. A diagnosis still needs to be confirmed by more testing, according to Schefter, but a protracted absence would be devastating for both the Cardinals and him.

After quarterback Kyler Murray of Arizona intercepted the ball late in the fourth quarter, Brown departed the game. Brown told reporters that his initial X-rays were negative, but he did not return to the game and was later spotted wearing a walking boot.

The former first-round pick is in the final year of his rookie deal and, should a long-term agreement not materialize, will earn $13.4 million in 2019 on the fifth-year option.

The Oklahoma product’s time with the Ravens at the beginning of his career was inconsistent. In his three seasons in Baltimore, “Hollywood” quickly established himself as a reliable deep threat, averaging 12 yards per reception.

But on the first night of the draft this year, the Ravens traded him to Arizona. Soon after, it was revealed that Brown had requested the switch, earning Baltimore a first-round pick and enabling him to play for an offense that was far more inclined to pass.

He was reunited with Kyler Murray, a former college teammate, as a result of the trade, and it was anticipated that they would produce significantly early in the season, in particular.

Brown has accumulated 43 catches, 485 yards, and three touchdowns in six weeks. During that time, he received over 10 targets on average per game, largely as a result of DeAndre Hopkins’ absence. But the second player can come back after his PED ban ends in Week 7. This is good news for the Cardinals, who are currently 19th in the NFL in passing yards per game.

Without Brown, progress will be more difficult to achieve. Due to a quadriceps rupture, Arizona has already lost Antoine Wesley for the duration of the campaign. After letting go of former second-round pick Andy Isabella, the team only had Robbie Anderson, who had just been added, as a fast player.
