How many Super Bowl rings does Jesse Sapolu have?

Former NFL football player Jesse Sapolu spent his 15-year career wearing a San Francisco 49ers uniform and was a center and offensive guard. Manase “Jesse” Sapolu, one of the most famous Samoan NFL football players, was born in Samoa and raised in Hawaii.

During the San Francisco 49ers’ 1980s and 1990s, he was the offensive line’s backbone. The late Bobb McKittrick, whom Bill Walsh referred to as Jesse Sapolu, was regarded during his 14-year career with the 49ers as a rugged, no-nonsense player who blocked for some of the most enduring plays in NFL history.

Sapolu was a well-respected Pro Bowl player who also won the Garry Niver Award, the Bobb McKittrick Award (twice), and the Ed Block Courage Award. He also amassed four Super Bowl rings. From 1979 through 1982, Jesse Sapolu earned four letters for the Rainbows.

He was chosen for the all-WAC team three times, and in 1982 he also received the MVP award. In the 1982 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the eleventh round. Four Super Bowl rings were part of his stellar 15-year NFL career with the 49ers.

He has been selected to the Pro Bowl three times and has been an All-Pro six times. Jesse Sapolu attended both the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and Farrington High School. Jesse Sapolu was chosen for the All-State squad as an offensive lineman while a high school student at Farrington High School.

From 1979 through 1982, he lettered for the University of Hawaii’s offensive line and continued to be a standout player there. Sapolu was the lone sophomore named to the all-WAC first team from 1980 to 1982. The Hula Bowl featured Sapolu in 1983.

The Oakland Invaders chose him in the 17th round (199th pick overall) of the 1983 USFL selection and the San Francisco 49ers in the 11th round (289th pick overall) of the 1983 NFL draft.

He stands at 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 278 pounds. On July 10, 1983, he agreed to play for the San Francisco 49ers. Sapolu is one of six 49ers to hold four Super Bowl championship rings (1984, 1988, 1989, and 1994), and he is the only one to have won a ring with the 1994 squad rather than their first victory in 1981.

He was named to several All-Pro teams and received Pro Bowl accolades in 1993 and 1994.

He was also a two-time member of the All-Madden Team in 1991 and 1994. The University of Hawaii Hall of Honor, the State of Hawaii Hall of Fame, and the Farrington High School Hall of Fame all inducted Sapolu as well.
