Smith was accompanied to the hospital by some members of his family as well. The latest update on Smith was that he was able to move slightly and had feelings in his extremities. However, there will still be concerns over the cornerback despite being rushed to the medical center. NFL fans were also quick to send their well-wishes for the young defensive player.

Who is Saivion Smith?

Smith was signed by the Lions last year and did feature in two games for the team in 2021. However, he has been used as a practice squad member for most of his tenure with the team so far. The 24-year-old had previously had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, and San Francisco 49ers.

Sunday’s Week 5 game against the Patriots was the first game that saw Smith being included in the Lions’ starting lineup. His name on the team sheet came as a necessity due to the defensive struggles of the Lions this campaign.
