“Trying to Improve In Any Way We Can”: Giants Coach Provides a Major Hint on the Team’s Odell Beckham Jr Pursuit

The Giants are in desperate need of an explosive wide receiver. The Giants previously had a great wide receiver in Odell Beckham Jr, who is available. Connect the dots with the information that Beckham was at the Giants’ facility on Monday.

Beckham’s visit was not planned by the Giants. Additionally, he did not meet or speak with general manager Joe Schoen or coach Brian Daboll during the visit. The Giants now have three healthy receivers (Darius Slayton, David Sills, and Richie James) on their active roster and three more on their practice squad (Marcus Johnson, Kalil Pimpleton, Makai Polk).

Brian Daboll discusses Odell Beckham Jr signing

“I’d say that Joe and I talk a lot about a wide variety of things: players, adding players, workouts on Mondays and Tuesdays,” Daboll said. “We’re always trying to improve our roster in any way we can.”

This season, the Giants’ wide receiver situation is a real issue. In addition to Kenny Golladay’s struggles and Sterling Shepard’s season-ending ACL tear, Kadarius Toney has missed the whole season due to injury. Beckham was on his way to a spectacular performance before being injured.

Nevertheless, Odell Beckham Jr got his championship ring and showed he still has it in him. He recorded nine receptions for 113 yards in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. In five seasons after being selected by the Giants in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Beckham caught 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns.
