Panthers Owner David Tepper Reported to Have Replacements Identified as Pressure Mounts on Head Coach Matt Rhule

We’re three game weeks into a new NFL season and things have not gotten any better for the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers started their season with two back-to-back losses against the likes of the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants. However, in game week three, Baker Mayfield and his men were able to secure an impressive 22-14 win over the New Orleans Saints. Despite the win, the scrutiny on both head coach Matt Rhule as well as Baker Mayfield is increasing.

In a recent interview, Rhule shared his thoughts on how it is everyone’s job to help out in the passing game. He said, “I mean he (Mayfield) is so well prepared, and I think the guys sense that and feed off that. To me we just gotta keep playing together, practice together, play together.”

Rhule continued, “Baker is an alpha, he is a winner, he is a competitor, and the more reps we have with the guys being around each other… as you’ve heard me talk about the passing game, it is everybody’s never on one guy. It is on the coach, its on the line to protect, it’s on the guys to get open and make tough catches.”

Pressure continues to increase on Matt Rhule and Baker Mayfield

Things have not gone according to plan for Baker Mayfield ever since he was drafted as the number one pick in the 2017 NFL draft. After four years with the Browns, Mayfield parted ways to join the Carolina Panthers. Despite a fresh new start, things have not really picked up for Mayfield, who is still struggling.

Rhule, on the other hand, is into his third season as the Panthers coach and it is rumored that David Tepper is not going to give Rhule much more time to be in the job. According to reports, Tepper is said to be willing to give some more time to Rhule, but already has replacements in mind in case Rhule is not able to turn things around. Sean Payton and Dan Quinn are front runners for the job.
