“We’re All Disappointed”: Tom Brady Gets Brutally Honest on Tampa Bay’s Offense as They Struggle in the 2022 Season Start

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense is having trouble beginning the 2022 NFL season. The Buccaneers are 2-1 and have fielded a stifling defense, but Tom Brady and Head Coach Todd Bowles know the team needs to improve on third downs on offense and start quicker in that regard to defense if it wants to continue winning.

Last season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored the second-most points in the league in part because it could sustain drives by surviving third downs.

Even with Tom Brady coming back for a third season, the Buccaneers’ offense is off to a poor start in 2022 for reasons that are both clear and inescapable.

Tom Brady highlights the team’s problem

“I certainly expect and hope we can score more points than we’ve been scoring. I think we’re all disappointed,” Brady said during a press conference via Greg Auman.

The Buccaneers’ third-down conversion rate is arguably the most striking of all the offensive stats that change from last year’s production. At 28.6%, the Buccaneers’ third-down offense is performing at around 60% of its potential from 2021.

Tom Brady commended the Buccaneers’ defense in addition to expressing dissatisfaction with his team’s offensive unit. The Tampa Bay defense is first in points allowed per game (9.0). and fourth in yards allowed per game (289.0).
