John Collins Trolls Joel Embiid Hard With Epic Birthday Cake

John Collins is a major contributing factor to the Hawks’ elite front court. The big man recently celebrated his 25th birthday, blowing out the candles. Birthday greetings, John!

It seems as though the Hawks have been entirely forgotten in the hullabaloo surrounding teams like the Cavaliers and the Wolves following their flawless off seasons.

With the addition of Dejounte Murray and, of course, Trae Young’s infamous week of training with Stephen Curry, this team made significant strides in reinforcing their backcourt during the summer.

You have a pretty excellent squad that has the potential to create waves in the Eastern Conference when you combine that with the fact that their frontcourt is already so outstanding.

John Collins’s Birthday Celebrated With A Unique Cake

Earlier this week, the Atlanta Hawks met for their annual media day. The Hawks decided that John Collins’ birthday would be the ideal opportunity to honour the team’s star player since he turned 25 when every player on the roster was getting ready for media appearances, picture sessions, and video shoots.

On Friday, Collins’ teammates surprised him with a cake. Collins soon noticed that the top of the Hawks-themed cake featured one of his most significant NBA moments—a poster slam on one of the league’s most formidable centres, Joel Embiid—when he first received it.

Let’s move it back several months. Do you recall John Collins’ bizarre highlight?

Pretty absurd, no? And this was one of the rare moments that Joel Embiid didn’t include in his scrapbook during a season that was marked by the highest of highs for him.

Given that circumstance, the man likely wished for this incident to be forgotten as quickly as is humanly possible. And it did—until the Hawks made their decision.

Collins and the centre for the Philadelphia 76ers have been engaged in a small rivalry since Collins entered the NBA in 2017 after being drafted by the Hawks with the 19th overall pick. Over the years, the two have engaged in verbal sparring outside of the basketball court on social media and even swapped poster dunks on one another.
