Washington Commanders News: Top Executive Resigns Amidst Pressure From NFL Owners on Dan Snyder to Sell the Franchise

The league as a whole has a shared opinion on Washington Commanders’ owner Daniel Snyder. In a recent article, club insider Mark Maske of the Washington Post said that “several” NFL owners thought Snyder should resign from his position.

Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver agreed to sell the organization earlier this week under pressure from an NBA investigation. This latest event may be having an impact on NFL owners.

There is still a rotating door at the building’s entrance while the Washington Commanders work to alter the culture. One of the Washington Commanders’ senior executives is leaving the company.

Greg Resh leaves Washington Commanders leaves the franchise

Greg Resh, the Commanders’ chief operational officer, is departing the organization after a tenure of fewer than two years, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post. Resh stated that he is accepting a “new opportunity” in Baltimore, where his family resides, in a statement issued by the organization.

“I’m grateful for the transformative professional opportunity provided to me and specifically the chance to partner with Jason [Wright], Dan [Snyder], and Tanya [Snyder] to support this historic franchise and its turnaround,” Resh said in the team-issued statement.

“I’ll take with me lifelong lessons, friendships, and a deep appreciation of and support for the burgundy and gold.”

Given the long-standing and common practice of businesses of all sorts and sizes to piece together anything other than the truth when a change is made, it is difficult to know if the separation has occurred on good terms or not, for the stated reason, or for something else. This fall, there may be more important changes to the Washington regime than just Resh’s retirement.

It’s even more enticing to question whether there’s more to the story because it’s the Commanders. Fortunately for the Commanders, this season’s on-field performance has not yet been impacted by all the turmoil going on behind the scenes. This weekend, Ron Rivera’s team will enter with a record of 1-2.
