“Attempting to Oust”: ‘Multiple’ NFL Franchise Owners Feel Dan Snyder Should Look Towards Selling Washington Commanders
The league as a whole has a shared opinion on Washington Commanders’ owner Daniel Snyder. Daniel Snyder, the owner of the Washington Commanders, may soon come under pressure to sell the NFL team from other ownership groups, according to reports.
In July 2020, The Washington Post published a series of articles alleging that since at least 2006, Snyder and other male executives, coworkers, and players of the team had sexually harassed and discriminated against over 40 women who had been former employees of the company, including office workers and cheerleaders.
Beth Wilkinson oversaw a year-long independent review of the team’s work environment, which was completed in 2021. It was discovered that instances of sexual harassment, bullying, and intimidation were frequent. In retaliation, the NFL penalized the team $10 million, and in addition, Snyder voluntarily abstained from overseeing the team’s daily operations for a period.

Dan Snyder facing pressure from other owners to sell Washington Commanders
Mark Maske of the Washington Post reported: “Sentiments among NFL team owners regarding Daniel Snyder’s ownership of the Washington Commanders have shifted significantly, as they await the findings of both a congressional investigation and a league-commissioned probe into allegations of misconduct by him and his team. Multiple owners said in recent days they believe serious consideration may be given to attempting to oust Snyder from the league’s ownership ranks, either by convincing him to sell his franchise or by voting to remove him.”

Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver agreed to sell the organization earlier this week under pressure from an NBA investigation. This latest event may be having an impact on NFL owners. Snyder was looked into for fostering a hostile work environment within the Washington Commanders group, just like Sarver.
In the 23 years that Snyder has been the team’s owner, Washington has only made the playoffs six times and never made it past the Divisional Round.
