WATCH: Browns DE Jadeveon Clowney Rolls His Ankle and Limped Off the Field vs NY Jets, Out For the Rest of the Game

The Browns’ lengthy opening-day losing skid was broken by Cade York’s game-winning field goal of 58 yards, and the suspense of facing former quarterback Baker Mayfield was put to rest. However, the Browns face a huge problem as star Jadeveon Clowney had to limp off the field due to an injury.

The Browns have a chance to snap their losing skid in home openers when they play the New York Jets on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium, but they won’t have Mayfield’s added motivation.

Late in the second quarter, with the Jets on the move, the Browns needed a major defensive play, and Jadeveon Clowney stepped up and made it happen.

Jadeveon Clowney limps off the game vs Jets, out for the game

After a third-down stop against the New York Jets in the third quarter, pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney of the Cleveland Browns hobbled off the field and into the medical tent. His absence would deal a devastating blow to a defense that is already battling to get off the field since he has forced the game’s sole turnover.

Expect rookie third-round selection Alex Wright to replace Myles Garrett as the starting for the Cleveland defense if Jadeveon Clowney is out for the whole of the game or for a lengthy period of time. This is a meaningful scenario to watch as the Browns try to get closer to their second victory of the year.

On a third down throw attempt, Brissett was intercepted. He hobbled off the field and was later seen thumping the bench.
