Philadelphia 76ers, the New Houston Rockets? Daryl Morey Thinks So.
Deals are happening left and right, and free agency has been exciting. The Philadelphia 76ers, who reportedly reached an agreement with Montrezl Harrell, are one franchise getting things done. But the deals made in the offseason, which often work out well for the Sixers, are particularly notable.
And everyone is laughing out loud at these actions. Why is it funny? Funny due to the Houston Rockets association. Daryl Morey deserves praise; he is a certain sort.
Morey will bring you to Philadelphia if you spent even a single second of your NBA career with the Houston Rockets. He has spent the offseason gradually transforming the 2022 Sixers into the 2015–18 Rockets.

Daryl Morey’s quest to turn Philadelphia 76ers into Houston Rockets
Last year’s signing of James Harden was the catalyst for everything. Then, this summer, he signed PJ Tucker, a Rocket from 2017 through 2021, to a 3-year, $33 million contract with a player option. He also signed Danuel House Jr., who played with the Rockets from 2018 to 2021 for 4 seasons. Trevelin Queen, who you might not be familiar with, spent the whole previous season, 10 games, with the Houston Rockets.

Now we have Harrell, who played for the Rockets alongside Harden from 2015 to 2017. They are finalizing their roster in an effort to capture the East championship. The Sixers now boast one of the NBA’s greatest starting lines, but they still need help on the bench. Harrell could be an important addition in that aspect.
One must keep in mind that Rivers favors veteran players for his bench groups. The Harrell addition makes sense in light of this. He can give the big guy a break and make a spot start when necessary. How many more ex-Rockets will Morey attempt to recruit? More to come!
