NFL 2022-23 season: Week 1 lineup advice, top tips and best matchups
The NFL 2022 season is set to kick off on Thursday, September 8th. The first week of the NFL season in 2022 has arrived and with it a fresh batch of fantasy football lineup queries.
In Week 1, it’s challenging to assess matchups and estimate utilization. We can only try our best to make informed selections based on many considerations since there is a lot we don’t know (recent performance, off-season acquisitions, talent, historical coaching tendencies, etc.). If at all possible, stay away from touches that will be particularly tough for some players to project, particularly committee backs.
Start your quarterbacks for Week 1 of fantasy football.
QBs must make starts for Week 1 of the NFL 2022 season
- Jackson Lamar (at NYJ)
- Justin Herbert (vs. LV)
- Jalen Hurts (at DET)
- Patrick Mahomes (at ARI)
- Josh Allen (at LAR)
- Tom Brady (at DAL)
- Kyler Murray (vs. KC)
- Russell Wilson (at SEA)
- Dak Prescott (vs. TB)
- Joe Burrow (vs. PIT)
Strong starters
49ers Trey Lance (at CHI). For a new coaching staff, the Bears defense is revamping it’s front and secondary, and the Niners will want to give Lance plenty of room to run and throw in his first regular-season start.
Packers’ Aaron Rodgers (at MIN). Even though the Vikings have made some progress against the pass, Rodgers likes to pick them apart. He’ll find the players to rush for two touchdowns and at least 250 yards.
The Vikings’ Kirk Cousins (vs. GB). Although the Packers’ pass defense is formidable, Cousins has excelled at home in this series and possesses the tools necessary to win in either shootout or comeback situations.
Colts’ Matt Ryan (at HOU). With their new QB, the Colts will aim to pass to score early before handing the ball over to Jonathan Taylor in the second half.
Saints’ Jameis Winston (at ATL). Winston won’t see much pressure from the Falcons’ difficult secondary, which includes A.J. Terrell and others, and New Orleans might be tempted to use its new, aggressive passing game.

- Chargers’ Austin Ekeler (vs. LV)
- Vikings, Dalvin Cook (vs. GB)
- Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey (vs. CLE)
- Steelers’ Najee Harris (at CIN)
- Bengals’ Joe Mixon (vs. PIT)
- Saints Alvin Kamara (at ATL)
- Browns’ Nick Chubb (at CAR)
- Broncos’ Javonte Willilams (at SEA)
- Jones, Aaron, a Packers (at MIN)
- Lions’ D’Andre Swift (vs. PHI)
- Jaguars Travis Etienne (at WAS)
- James Conner, Cardinals (vs. KC)
- Leonard Fournette, Buccaneers (at DAL)
- Cowboys Ezekiel Elliott (vs. TB)
- Giants’ Saquon Barkley (at TEN)
- 49ers Elijah Mitchell (at CHI)
- Commanders, Antonio Gibson (vs. JAX)
- Bears David Montgomery (vs. SF)
Stronger starts
Dillon, AJ, Packers (at MIN). Given his great complimentary all-around usage, which will be depended on, even more, he is nearly a plug-and-play in the manner in which Aaron Jones is at this point.
Eagles’ Miles Sanders (at DET). Though he might not hold the lead for very long in front of Kenneth Gainwell, he ought to have it after recovering from his hamstring injury, at least for this prime position.
Patriots Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson (at MIA). They continue to be the foundation of New England’s offense, supporting Mac Jones, even though it makes sense to downplay passing game components in the first game.
Chiefs Clyde Edwards-Helaire (at ARI). After the backup situation was resolved, CEH was still expected to have the majority of touches and should be more involved as a receiver in a game played in the Wild West.
