Who is Shedeur Sanders, Son of NFL & MLB Legend Deion Sanders, Who Stole the Show With a 5-TD Performance As Jackson State Tigers Demolished Florida A&M Rattlers?

Shedeur Sanders recently came in the news for all good reasons. A 59-3 victory over the Florida A&M Rattlers marked the sophomore quarterback’s impressive 2022 season debut. He completed his first 17 throw attempts and finished the day 29 of 33 for 323 yards and five touchdowns.

For the Jackson State Tigers, Shedeur Sanders’ season couldn’t have gotten off to a greater start. Shedeur Sanders has already improved his game for the 2022 season, despite how impressive he was as a true freshman last year.

There were 26 scholarship offers made to this young man, including seven from the SEC. For his stellar performance, Sanders was named Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Stats Perform FedEx Ground FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, and the BOXTOROW National Player of the Week.

Who is Shedeur Sanders?

American football quarterback Shedeur Sanders is now a member of the Jackson State Tigers. He is the offspring of Jackson State head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders. Sanders’ father served as the offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Shedeur Sanders, a four-star prospect, initially chose Florida Atlantic over offers from Florida State, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama to play college football. Sanders began his studies at Jackson State in January 2021. However, he was not permitted to participate in the team’s Spring 2021 season as a player.

As the Tigers’ starting quarterback for the next fall season in 2021, Sanders completed 3,231 passes for 3,031 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.

Sanders became the first player from a historically black college or university (HBCU) to win the Jerry Rice Award for the best freshman in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision after being awarded the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Freshman of the Year and second team All-SWAC.

During his 14-year career, Deion Sanders played for the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League (NFL). The first athlete to participate in both a Super Bowl and a World Series, he won two Super Bowl championships and made one World Series participation in 1992.

He was selected for eight Pro Bowls, earned six first-team All-Pro honors, and appeared in back-to-back Super Bowls, winning both with the 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX and the Cowboys in Super Bowl XXX. In 2011, he was admitted to both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
