According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, “Breaking: Broncos and Russell Wilson just reached agreement on a five-year, $245 million contract extension that includes $165 million guaranteed, sources tell ESPN. Deal now ties Wilson to Denver for seven total years and $296 million. Another massive QB deal in the books.”

The Denver Broncos were recently acquired by a consortium led by Billionaire heir of Walmart, Rob Walton. The eldest son of Sam Walton acquired the team for a whopping $4.6 billion, which is the most expensive acquisition in NFL history. With a contract extension of Wilson, the new owners are clearly showing their intent with the team. Wilson’s $245 million contract means he will be earning $49 million a year, which puts him at number two. The highest-paid quarterback annually is Aaron Rodgers, who will make a whopping $50.3 million.

Third on the list is Kyler Murray, who is set to make $46.1 million. Deshaun Watson comes in at four with $46 million. Fifth place goes to Patrick Mahomes, who has the biggest contract overall, but his yearly package will be $45 million. Josh Allen and Derek Carr round out the top five with $43 million and $40.5 million respectively.
